There
are many high quality web sites dealing with Antarctic History
and Science. Here is a brief selection of my favourites.
Walking Out of History
An excellent
series of interviews and readings of the story of Ernest Shackleton's
epic journey back from Antarctica in the whaler "James Caird"
after the "Endurance" was crushed in the pack ice and
sank. Presented by Minnesota Public Radio.
South
Pole Astronomy
Australia has
a number of astronomy projects at the South Pole. This site has
a web cam of the UNSW observatory.
Antarctica
Online
Australia has
had a long and enduring connection with Antarctic science and
exploration. The ANARE site has live links to the Australian
bases and schedules of each season's science activities and resupply
by icebreaker.
